Pay close attention to the following dates so you don’t miss out on PARP activities and prizes!

JANUARY

• 1/23: PARP starts, Handbooks sent home
• 1/24: PARP author visit – Lisa Desimini, local author and illustrator
• 1/26: Get Unplugged! – Go home, turn off the TV and your electronic games and play a board game!
• 1/27: Turn in PARP Handbook (Week 1 Reading Sheet and Challenge 1 completed)

FEBRUARY

• 2/1: Book Swap – bring in a gently used book in a bag labeled with your name, grade and teacher; books will be collected from each teacher
• 2/2: Book Swap – Pick out a “new” book during lunchtime; you have to donate a book in order to select a new one
• 2/3: Turn in PARP Handbook (Week 2 Reading Sheet and Challenge 2 completed)
• 2/7: Read a Shirt Day – Show your Ocean spirit and wear a shirt with appropriate wording
• 2/9: Turn in PARP Handbook (Week 3 Reading Sheet and Challenge 3 completed) NOTE – YOU’RE TURNING YOUR BOOK IN ON A THURSDAY
  
• CLOSING PARTY!

• Read with your parent (or grandparent, aunt, uncle, step-parent, babysitter) for at least 15 minutes each day. You can take turns reading pages or chapters. Try reading different character parts. You can each read your own book (or magazine) at the same time. Read a recipe together. Read the lyrics of your favorite song. Play a board game!
  
  
• You still have to follow your teacher’s daily reading requirement and turn in your weekly reading log. Your PARP reading can be a part of your daily assignment or, even better, in addition to it!
  
  
• Complete daily the “Reading Sheet” for each week of PARP.
  
  
• Turn in your PARP Game Book every Friday of PARP to receive your PARP stamp. If you get 3 PARP stamps, you will receive the PARP prize at the end of the program!
  
  
• Complete the weekly PARP challenge to receive extra PARP prizes!
